Import a Word, PDF, or text file
Bring an existing script into the editor from .docx, .doc, .pdf, .txt, .md, or .rtf.
Applies to: Pro and Premium
- In the editor, open the Import action and choose your file.
- Accepted formats: .docx, .doc, .pdf, .txt, .md, .markdown, and .rtf.
- The text becomes editable speech content: check headings and paragraph breaks, then adjust the title.
Expected result: the document's text appears in the editor within a few seconds. Complex layouts (columns, text boxes, scanned pages) import as plain text or may need cleanup; the words arrive, decorative layout does not.
If the import fails
- Scanned PDFs contain pictures of text, not text; run OCR first or paste the text directly.
- Password-protected files can't be read. Remove the protection and retry.
- If a renamed file is rejected, check it really is the format its extension claims.
- Very large files: split the document, or paste the text in sections.
