Refund Policy
Last updated June 23, 2026
Rhetoric is operated by Cortis LLC(Wyoming, USA). We'd rather you stay because the product earns it than because a refund is hard to get. This page is the whole policy, no fine print behind it, and the formula below is the exact one we use.
The 14-day refund window
If Rhetoric isn't for you, request a refund within 14 days of your first paymentand we'll refund the part of your first paid period you haven't used. One email, no questionnaire, no “retention specialist”. This applies to your first paid period on a new subscription (the initial month or the initial year), whichever plan you chose.
How the refund is calculated
We refund the unused remainder of your first period. We look at two numbers and keep the larger, then refund the rest:
- Time: the fraction of your paid period that has already passed.
- Usage: how much of the plan's monthly allowances you've already used: your rhetorical audits, enhanced voice-tracking minutes, and (on Premium) live debate minutes, taking whichever single one is highest.
Your refund is your price × (1 − the larger of those two). So if you've barely used Rhetoric and ask early, you get most of it back; if you've already run through the month's audits or minutes, you keep less. Because the annual plan's period is so much longer, an early annual cancellation is refunded almost in full unless you've used a lot. We'll always show you the breakdown.
How to ask
- Email support@rhetoricspeech.com from your account address with the word “refund”.
- We issue approved refunds to your original payment method through Stripe, usually within two business days. After we issue it, your bank or card network typically takes 5–10 business days to show the credit; that part is outside our control, and the original charge stays on your statement with the refund appearing as a separate credit.
- A refund ends paid access immediately; your account drops to the read-only library described below.
Customers from before June 23, 2026
If you subscribed under our previous policy (a full money-back guarantee), we honor it: first-period refund requests for those accounts are returned in full, not pro-rated. The pro-rated calculation above applies to subscriptions started on or after June 23, 2026.
Renewals and cancellation
Cancelling and refunding are different. After the first period, subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime, yourself, from Settings → Manage billing, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal, no email needed to stop billing.
- Cancelling (no refund) keeps full access through the end of the period you already paid for; you are not billed again.
- A refundreturns money and ends access now; that's the trade for getting your money back early.
- Renewal charges(the months or years after the first) are outside the 14-day window, but if a renewal caught you by surprise, write to us; we read every message and treat people the way we'd want to be treated.
Premium live-audio minutes
Premium includes 60 live audio debate minutes per month. Those minutes count as usage in the calculation above, so a refund on a new Premium subscription reflects how many you've used; we're not going to pretend you didn't use the thing you signed up to try, and we're not going to overcharge you for a few minutes either.
Your speeches are never held hostage
Whatever happens to your subscription, your writing stays yours. After a refund, cancellation, or expiry, you keep a read-only, exportable library, you can open and download your speeches as documents or text. We never lock your own words behind a paywall to pressure a renewal. See the Privacy Policy for retention and deletion timelines, and Settings for instant self-serve export and account deletion.
