Questions, answered

The honest FAQ

The things people ask before they pay: about the demo, your voice, which browsers work, and how billing is handled. If something isn't here, email support@rhetoric.app.

The demo vs paid rehearsal

What the free sample proves, and what it doesn't.

Do I need an account to try it?+
No. The browser sampleruns a locked script with your browser's own speech recognition. It proves the core interaction: the script moves when you speak and waits when you pause, but it is deliberately lighter than paid rehearsal.
How is paid rehearsal actually better than the demo?+
Paid rehearsal works on your own scripts, keeps session history, and gives you the enhanced tracker built for fast reads, pauses, and graceful recovery when you go off-script. It also unlocks the rest of the loop: the Word-style editor, freestyle drills, AI debate, and the Rhetorical Audit. The demo is a taste of one feature; paid is the whole practice room.
Is the enhanced tracker just the browser demo with a login?+
No, and we won't pretend otherwise. Where a managed speech engine is used for smoother word timing, confidence, or recovery, the product labels that clearly before the session starts. Honesty about what's measuring you is part of the product.

Your voice and your privacy

The short version: raw audio is never stored.

Is my voice recorded or stored?+
Rhetoric never stores your raw rehearsal audio. The browser demo uses on-device browser recognition. Enhanced paid tracking may process audio transiently for transcription and timing, then discards it. What persists is transcripts, metrics, and the text you choose to keep or analyze. See the Privacy Policy.
Does the AI see my speeches?+
Only the text you ask it to work on, when you run an audit, a rewrite, or a debate. AI analysis runs on saved words, never on audio, and we never sell or train public models on your content.
Can I export or delete everything?+
Yes, anytime, yourself. Settings has one-click export of your speeches and instant account deletion. Your library stays readable and exportable even after a subscription ends.

Browsers and devices

Where live voice tracking works best.

Which browsers work?+
Live voice tracking depends on your browser's speech recognition, so Chrome and Edgeon desktop are the most reliable path, and the demo is the quickest way to check yours. Where live recognition isn't available, paid users get a clearly labeled fallback rather than a dead end.
Does it work on my phone?+
You can land, try the demo, subscribe, and read your library on a phone. For rehearsal itself, a laptop with Chrome or Edge gives the smoothest voice tracking. It's the surface you'll want when you're actually practicing.
The mic isn't working. What now?+
Rhetoric makes the three mic states explicit: supported, denied, and unsupported each get their own labeled screen. If you blocked the mic, re-enable it in your browser's site settings; if your browser doesn't expose recognition, use sample playback or switch to Chrome/Edge.

Plans, billing, and refunds

Pro is the default. Premium is the live-audio upgrade.

Which plan should I start with?+
Pro ($12/mo) for almost everyone: the editor, library, enhanced voice-tracked rehearsal, freestyle drills, AI debate, and the Rhetorical Audit. Choose Premium ($29/mo) only if you specifically want the live spoken AI debate mode with voice-to-voice sparring and 60 live audio minutes a month. Compare them on pricing.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes. Self-serve from Settings → Manage billing, no email required. You keep full access through the end of the period you paid for.
What's the refund policy?+
A 14-day money-back guaranteeon your first payment: email us with “refund” and we return it in full, no questions. Full details on the refund policy page.
